Written by the dream team of Song Soo-yoon (lyrics), Han Jae-ho and Kim Seung-soo (composition and arrangement), and the enigma Kim Zart (arrangement), the song really gets better and better each listen. In what world is the downbeat song immediately after the huge rush of the single not wrongfully ousted early? Unlike Just Back Then, which follows CUPID on its parent album, Magic triumphed in this rate, and rightfully earned its place as the highest ranked album track from Revolution. I really didn't expect this song to take out so many other iconic moments, but that's apparently the power of the Revolution album! 마법 (Magic) is the third track off the group's aforementioned second album Revolution, coming immediately after Mister and Wanna which may have inflated its score somewhat. Please give a listen to the Japanese version as it's really quite lovely! I'll be back later with another elimination, and our top 20 roundup! Sorry."įor our media section, we have the two studio versions of the song, along with multiple live performances, including their performances at both the Korean and Japanese KARASIA concerts, and one of their comeback stage performances. It's still worth it just for the rush of the chorus coming soon to scalp me." Song Soo-yoon you've got some 'splaining to do! Crisp X references LOONA: "Why can I hear “Hi High” in this?" And closing out is our low scorer Empty Shoebox who unfortunately did NOT live: "Sounds pointless to me. Our first commenter Wills loves the song's chorus: "The breathless chorus is lovely!" The iconic M24 brings up some good points: "Take A Bow, now Umbrella… whoever created these songs for them (Sweetune?) must've been inspired by Good Girl Gone Bad. Overall, for me, the Japanese version really gives the Korean version a run for its money, but the Korean remains my favorite version. Seungyeon's vocalizing in the intro is removed, and a section is added into the first verse before the song moves into the pre-chorus.
Speaking of the Japanese version, the Japanese lyrics for the song were written by the prolific Natsumi Watanabe, and the song is about 10 seconds longer than the original Korean version, and features various differences. The same Japanese version would again later be included on the group's first Japanese album, Girl's Talk as track number 8. The song also later served as the b-side to the group's first Japanese single Mister, in a slightly re-arranged version. The song made its first appearance as track 3 on the group's Lupin mini album, also being used as the main promotional track on the group's comeback stages, along with the single.
Everyone say thank you to our final voter for that! Umbrella is a funky, carefree bop of a song, and was of course put together by the team of Song Soo-yoon on lyrics, Han Jae-ho and Kim Seung-soo on composition and arrangement, plus Ahn Jun-seong also on arrangement. I would've loved to see it make top 20, but hey, at least it pulled out an 8 average in the end. The incredible album tracks just keep falling, but this is a more than amazing placing for this song.
